10.5 million tons of textiles went into landfills in 2015. That’s 7.5 percent of all waste generated that year! If you want to reduce your waste, preventing your clothing from going to a landfill is a great way to do it. Participating in clothing swaps is a fantastic way to give your unwanted clothing a second life — plus, it's great for your bank account! ;)
HERE ARE THE DEEETS:
1. Bring your items to Grain&Grit or The Pale Blue Dot prior to the event, **starting October 1st through October 6th** .
***Please do not bring your clothing on the day of or evening of the swap.***
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
2. Please only donate wearable items. *Refrain from donating ripped, broken items*.
If you would like information on where to take your unwearable items for textile recycling , please look in the discussions section/comments! :)
3. You can donate: clothing, costumes, pyjamas, active wear, shoes, maternity clothing.
4. ***Please refrain from bringing the following:*** -
- Opened/Used Cosmetics (lotions, etc.)
- “Branded” T-Shirts (ie. a T-shirt you received from volunteering, etc.)
- Used Socks
- Stained and/or Ripped Clothing
5. When you bring your items in, we will give you tickets. 1 ticket for every item
6. Bring your tickets on the night of the clothing swap and use them as your currency. 1 item = 1 ticket
7. Please bring reusable bags to carry your goodies out! :)
An Important Message:
This clothing swap is put on by volunteers who want to contribute to a vibrant, inclusive community. Before any swapping occurs... clothing is collected, stored, sorted, organized and hung. Hours of prep (and lots of heavy lifting) go into making these clothing swaps happen and we’re so pleased with the response it has gotten!
We thank you all for joining us in this journey of promoting a circular economy and sustainable living. We hope that you enjoy these special events and continue to be respectful of the volunteers and the space 😌🙏 We love you guys!💛 thank you
