Max’s Big Day

Join us for a big, family-friendly celebration at Grain & Grit on July 2nd from 12-4pm to mark the completion of the 9th Annual Max’s Big Ride, and to raise money and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy!

We’ll have a BBQ, games, silent auction,, slushies and a bake sale — all to raise money for the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Fund at the University of Toronto to help improve the outcomes for those living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

This event is free and everyone is welcome!

About Max’s Big Ride

If you’ve been around here long enough, you surely know Max! He’s a bright and funny 12-year-old who loves to joke around. Max has a rare genetic disorder called Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a terrible disease which doesn’t allow his muscles to develop.

In 2015, Max and his father Andrew started riding their cargo bike 600 km between their home in Hamilton and Ottawa to draw much-needed attention to the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy and they’ve continued Max’s Big Ride every summer since.

The 9th annual Max’s Big Ride runs from June 27 to July 1. They will once again be riding from home where Andrew will log 120 km per day on his bicycle trainer for a total of 600 km by the time he finishes on Canada Day.
